Staff Spotlight — Meet Dr. Vicky Vu

There’s more than meets the eye to this optometrist. Dr. Vu is also a dedicated sci-fi fan—”Books, movies, documentaries. I love it all!”—nature explorer, and proud mom of two.

When speaking with Dr. Vu, it’s clear she has a passion for her life and career.

In her free time, she enjoys being outside with her kids, taking up new hobbies (the latest being latte art), and traveling to new places. 

At work, Dr. Vu firmly believes that preventative eye care is the key to a lifetime of healthy eyes and vision.

Dr. Vu has been with the Monocle team since day one but joined as a full-time doctor in 2022. She is a licensed therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, and practices full-scope optometry, diagnosing various diseases and disorders of the visual system, as well as treating eye infections and ocular diseases and injuries. She also enjoys fitting contact lenses and co-managing LASIK and cataract surgeries.

“Every day, I get to help people see better and feel better. It’s a special privilege to make a difference in my community,” she shares.

Dr. Vu is board certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and the Texas Optometry Board. She is also a member of the Harris County Optometric Society, the Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

But Dr. Vu’s greatest passion of all is her family. She and her husband have two kids: a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. A typical day? “My days vary but always start out with a cup of coffee and typically end with meditation.” She adds smiling, “And lots of happy chaos with my little ones in between.”
