At the Eye Doctor: Through our Patient’s Eyes
Thank you to our sweet patient for writing about his experience here at Monocle!
As I opened the glass doors to Monocle Premier Eye-Care, I looked around at my environment and noticed one thing. The waiting room was very well decorated, and extremely cozy, so my 10 minutes there felt like 10 hours. "Lionel, we're ready," called the doctor. I followed the voice, and beside the entrance was my doctor. She was around 5 and a half feet, had black, circular glasses, and had dark hair. She took me into a room, where we did a few things like looking at a farmhouse image and playing a mini game that worked by looking at a grey screen through a telescope and pressing a blue button whenever we saw a flashing, white dot.
After we were done, she led me into the exam room where I waited roughly 20 seconds until I heard footsteps nearing our room, then a knock at the door. "Oh-no," I muttered under my breath. I thought the world was ending, but it was quite the contrary. An extremely friendly lady stepped into the room. "Hi!" she exclaimed in such a friendly voice. "Hi," I replied.
We ran some tests like looking at letters which varied in size, switching lenses while doing that, and I even got to see an up-close view of my mom's eyes! It was cool. We found out that my right eye has a tiny prescription, but not big enough to have glasses.
On our way out, I grabbed a candy, and hopped in the car, thinking if I wanted to become an eye doctor or not.
